Tips For When You’re Pulled Over By The Police

I skipped ahead a little bit and went into mental health without actually talking about it, but in light of recent events with protests over police brutality, and a spotlight on systemic racism, I thought I’d make something about what to do if you’re pulled over.

Being pulled over sucks. Thankfully, I’m blessed to say that the three out of four times I’ve gotten pulled over, I was on the wrong (the fourth time was because my registration was off by a letter or number on the car the police officer was on the lookout for). I say blessing because they weren’t profiling situations, I wasn’t pulled over for no reason or without probable cause as they say (that’s right I can be fancy sometimes). I actually did do something that got me pulled over. The other blessing is that all four of the police officers who pulled me over acted professionally.

The tips above aren’t a “how-to” guide. They won’t guarantee you’ll have positive exchanges with law enforcement every time you get pulled over. Your hope is that the police officer you’re dealing with is a professional, but if a person’s just shitty, there’s really nothing you can do to make them act less shitty towards you. The tips above are just so that you’re less anxious for when you’re inevitably pulled over for unintentionally? being on the wrong.
